Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, Molecular Biology

About the Position

Reporting to the Scientist, Molecular Biology we are seeking an experienced, motivated detail-oriented, and highly skilled Research Associate/ Sr. Research Associate within our Molecular Biology Team.

Under scientific and technical supervision, the individual will primarily be responsible for manufacturing small and large scale LVV gene therapy vectors across various preclinical programs and disease areas. The candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter with well-established organizational skills who is excited to be a part of the biotechnology industry. The position offers potential growth into additional areas such as molecular biology, immunology, and cell therapy.

Responsibilities Include

  • Generation of research and large-scale lentivirus vector using various production/isolation techniques (TFF, ultracentrifugation, etc.)
  • Execution and analysis of flow cytometry-based assays that measure physical and infectious viral titer.
  • Work collaboratively within a cross-functional, team-based environment to complete production tasks as outlined.
  • Execution of activities common with cell culture and lentiviral transduction
  • Accurate capture of data in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity and protocol compliance using an electronic lab notebook
  • Maintenance of completed lentiviral vector stocks within an electronic inventory system.
  • Simultaneous management of multiple internal projects and workstreams
  • Performance of lab associated tasks in accordance with GLP and Cabaletta Bio lab safety policies and SOPs.
  • Maintain up-to-date compliance with assigned training curriculum.
  • Optimization of current workflows, active contribution to process improvements and the implementation of new technologies

Required Qualifications

  • B.S degree in Life Sciences/Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 1-3 years of prior experience in Lentivirus-based gene therapy and/or T-cell biology in an academic or industrial setting
  • Prior experience with the production of research and manufacturing-scale lentivirus vectors
  • Knowledge of flow cytometry systems and ability to work independently with advanced equipment.
  • Significant lab experience in aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture (particularly with human T cells)
  • Highly organized and have clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Strong team orientation and passion for continuous self-development.
