Associate Scientist/Scientist, Translational Medicine

About the Position

Reporting to the Associate Principal Scientist, Translational Medicine we are seeking an experienced, motivated, detail-oriented, and highly skilled Associate Scientist/Scientist within our Translational Medicine team. 

Under scientific and technical supervision, the individual will be primarily responsible for performing MSD-based assays on clinical samples that will provide data and insight on the safety and efficacy of Cabaletta’s clinical candidates.  Additionally, the individual will perform multi-color flow cytometry and cell sorting for both clinical and R&D-based assays within the Translational Medicine team. The candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter with well-established organizational skills who is excited to be a part of the biotechnology industry. 

Responsibilities Include

  • With guidance from the Associate Principal Scientist, Translational Medicine, performing assays on pre-clinical and clinical samples.
  • Performing qualified flow cytometric analysis and cell sorting to characterize our clinical manufactured product and other immune cells in patient PBMC samples.
  • Performing and analyzing key biomarkers using the Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) platform.
  • Generating, qualifying, and validating GLP-like protocols
  • Interfacing heavily with the electronic lab notebook system and sample management system.
  • Maintaining GLP-compliant and detailed records for clinical sample lifecycle (receipt, usage, etc.).
  • Managing multiple internal projects / workstreams simultaneously.
  • Accurately capturing data in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity and protocol compliance.
  • Performing lab associated tasks in accordance with GLP and Cabaletta Bio lab safety policies and SOPs.

Required Qualifications

  • MS degree in Biology, Immunology, or related field with 2+ years or Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience in an academic laboratory or the biotechnology industry is required.
  • Experience using the Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) platform is required.
  • Experience with clinical sample handling and inventory management.
  • Significant lab experience including aseptic technique, mammalian cell culture, and human tissue handling required.
  • Must be highly organized and efficient, able to work independently. Strong problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Must have a desire to be part of a growing organization that uses cutting-edge science.
  • Strong team orientation and passion for continuous self-development.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with flow cytometry, including sample labeling / staining, data acquisition (i.e., using BD or Miltenyi flow cytometers) and analysis (i.e., using FlowJo or FCS Express) is a plus.
  • Experience in industry or in a startup industrial setting.
  • Previous experience with GLP/GCP & ICH regulations.
